Thank you to Copenhagen, Helsinki and Stockholm for coming out to see Creative Cloud and CS6! We’ve had a great turnout so far, usually a full house pushing about 800. So thank you!

We’ve been able to show many new features, like content-aware move in Photoshop, Pattern Creator in Illustrator, and how to create a liquid layout in Dreamweaver. And even though I’m not a video guy, I personally like the 3D Camera Tracker in After Effects.

But to be honest there are too many features to even mention in a short blog post. Nor should you take my word for it. So Jason Levine kindly put together this video at our stop in Helsinki. So feel free to listen to what some of the attendees have to say.

It’s here! The Creative Cloud! Today you can take advantage of everything the Creative Cloud has to offer. Lets take a brief look:

A Creative Cloud Membership

A Creative Cloud membership starts with the complete Creative Suite 6 — full, installable versions of the desktop apps. We’ve added Adobe Muse, our new visual web design tool, and Edge, the HTML5 animation app. To this, we added a lot of services such as Business Catalyst for web hosting, Typekit for fonts, and up to 20 gigabytes of cloud storage for syncing and sharing your files. Then, we connected these pieces to help you go from idea to finished product, starting with web site creation and soon, we’ll add access to our iPad publishing service for making digital editions of things like magazines and catalogs via InDesign.

But perhaps the most exciting news is that we’ve made all of this available at an accessible monthly price. Yes, that gets you everything.

Your Files, Everywhere

Just go to CreativeCloud.com where we’ve built a clear overview of everything you get with your membership, as well as a central place to manage all your stored and shared files. But we didn’t just build a fancy file browser. Since we’ve invented most creative file formats (PSD, AI, INDD) we can render them visually and give you some amount of viewing control. Push a Photoshop file to the cloud, and we’ll show you the layers and color pallet, plus give you tools for sharing, leaving comments, and translating to other formats. Same goes for all our other files — easily page through large InDesign files, view the fonts in your Illustrator docs, and on and on.

Touch App Integration

There is also integration with the Adobe Touch Apps. Photoshop Touch for pixel-level image editing and layering, Ideas for vector-based sketching, Proto for creating website wireframes, and Collage for moodboard layouts.

We’re Just Getting Started

Keep in mind that the whole idea behind the Creative Cloud is to make sure you’re up-to-date. You never have to worry about not having the latest version. Heck, we’ll even push updates to software BEFORE they ship with the next release. And we’ll be adding more features to CreativeCloud.com as well. So stay tuned. It’s going to be a fantastic ride!

Today I did an eSeminar on Flash for Higher Education. The recording is posted here. In short, when it comes to higher education there are many training modules already built in Flash. Not only that, they are usually in controlled IT environments that are mostly desktops/laptops. In these controlled settings you can confirm that everyone has the Flash Player and thus create content for it. Which is great because the Flash Platform has a rich set of tools (see Flash Pro) and a robust language (AS3) allowing designers and developers to quickly create these training modules.

Now there are cases where HTML might work better when it comes to education modules. Say for instance, forms, quizzes, tests, simple interactive tutorials. All are served well by HTML, and I’m sure they are mostly being served that way. Now there are those cases where you really need rich interactions and an immersive experience, and even though Adobe Edge Preview will get you a good way there (allowing you to create animation/interactivity for web standards) it still isn’t advanced as Flash Professional for instance. So from an “immersive training module” perspective (read: gaming), where you’re rolling out content to controlled systems, Flash is still the way to go. In my opinion. But it’s nice to know that regardless of which technology you choose, Adobe has your back. We’ll give you the freedom to choose!

This year I get to not only attend SXSW Interactive but I get to present! We will have a full day Adobe Camp and I’m looking forward to presenting on some hot new things we’re working on concerning HTML5 and CSS3 as well as show off what’s hot in the industry now and in the future. I have two sessions. The Future of HTML5 Motion Design as well as Understanding the Future of Web and Apps. Complete schedule is below:

The Future of HTML5 Motion Design (9:30-10:30)

HTML5 and CSS3 are hot, driven by an explosion of new, Internet connected devices. While they offer many new features that should allow you to do the types of things that you previously did in Flash, actually making it happen is really hard. Until now. Adobe Evangelist Paul Trani will give you a first-hand look at Adobe Edge, which is designed to save you time while creating beautiful motion and interactive content for the web.

Paul will also give you an exclusive first look at new features for Edge – don’t miss out on this rare opportunity to learn about Edge from the source!

Boost your Mobile Workflow with Adobe’s Newest Product (11-12)

We are announcing something completely new – Adobe will be unveiling a new product for web designers and developers to help with their mobile web workflows. Come to the see the live demo and check it out for yourself!

“The Page is Dead.” Responding to the Responsive Web

Responsive web design is changing the definition of a “page,” as it aims to address the growing variety of device form factors and locations where content is consumed. Additionally, as the web evolves, rules and limitations must be better understood in order to create truly unique content. This session will focus on design philosophy and development techniques to create and adapt your content for maximum impact, regardless of where and how it is consumed. Topics will include:

Proper elements for the proper content

Design for context

Adapt your UI and adapt your content

Design with ratios vs. design with pixels

Know the limitations

Designing with limitations

Let the limitations set you free

Demystifying Devices: Understanding the Future of the Web and Apps (3:30-4:30)

Part of being a great web designer is understanding the medium you are designing for, recognizing its weaknesses and pushing its strengths. Understanding this balance as we are thrust into the world of mobile and “progressive enhancement” will go a long way in making you a success.

In this session, Adobe Evangelist Paul Trani will demystify the technology alphabet soup of CSS, HTML5, jQuery Mobile, PhoneGap, TypeKit and Sencha Touch so you can boldly execute on your next project (or at least sound really smart in meetings).

Building online business with Adobe Business Catalyst and Dreamweaver CS5.5 (5-6pm)

Learn how Adobe’s Business Catalyst unified platform and Dreamweaver CS5.5 can propel you to build everything from powerful online stores to beautiful brochure-ware sites to lead generation mini-sites without back-end coding. Through this session, you’ll learn how to:

Create a fully featured web site in minutes

Manage an intuitive, flexible content management

Integrate social Media ”in a click”

Add database-driven content without the need for coding

Build and customize web forms for capturing customer leads

Generate reports on site performance and customer activity

Mixer (6-8pm) (It wouldn’t be SXSW without a party!)

At Adobe MAX 2011 we announced the Adobe Creative Cloud. It is a new major initiative that really redefines the content creation process. But what does that mean? I’d like to go ahead and simplify what the Adobe Creative Cloud is.

What is the Adobe Creative Cloud?

It’s basically a subscription offering from Adobe. Starting at about $50/month. When it’s available (first half of 2012) you’ll have access to the entire Creative Suite to use as you please. Everything from Photoshop to InDesign to After Effects. Whatever you want, whenever you want. Just go to a special “hub” and download it.

And since it’s a subscription service, we’re able to push updates to the various applications so you can have access to the latest features! Forget waiting up to a year to use a feature that was “sneaked”. Use it as soon as it’s available! Not interested? No sweat. The “box” version will still be available.

But it’s more than just a Creative Suite subscription…

You’ll get more than the Creative Suite with all the new, fancy features as they’re created. You’ll also get access to new products we’re working on, such as Adobe Edge and Adobe Muse software. Adobe Edge allows users to create rich, animated and interactive content using Web Standards. Think of it as a Flash Professional for web standards. Muse, on the other hand, allows non-web developers to create websites as easy as creating a layout for print.

The Creative Cloud will also include the fancy new Adobe Touch Apps. Allowing you to create or “capture” inspiration as it occurs to you, wherever you are. But it goes beyond that. Check out the breakdown of the apps below. (Currently available on Android

Services

There are also some great services available in the Creative Cloud subscription.

Dropbox-like file access and storage. Create on a tablet. Access those files on your desktop for further development. Check ‘em out online. Show them back on the tablet when you’re done. A total of 20GB will be available.

Adobe Business Catalyst. A service allowing you to easily publish from Dreamweaver or Muse directly to the web. Tracking and all sorts of good stuff available.

Adobe TypeKit. Use custom fonts on the web with full control on any site you want. No need to make a special font an image. That’s old school. (Normally $50/yr.)

Digital Publishing Suite, Single Edition. Create your own publications from InDesign and publish to the iPad! But more than just a “brochure” on a device. Add interactivity and animation without writing any code. All from InDesign!

Community & Training

There are even some things coming around community and training. Get answers to your technical questions and connect with others. Details coming soon.

Feel free to check out the FAQ for more information.

I demonstrate how to create, test, and publish a mobile app that works across multiple platforms (iOS, Android, and BlackBerry Tablet OS) and adapts to either a smartphone or tablet display. The course also tackles the issue of various screen sizes and densities and how to scale and adjust content. Exercise files are included with the course. Feel free to take them and make your own app! Check it out!

What you’ll get out of this course:

Designing for mobile

Modifying existing web content for mobile delivery

Using the accelerometer

Setting up a mobile project

How to test and debug

Optimizing graphics and ActionScript for mobile

Creating scalable content

Adjusting for orientation

Sharing and updating graphics across multiple projects

Publishing an app to the App Store and Android Market

Probably the chapter I’m most happy about is testing and publishing an app for iOS. A pretty complex process that is boiled down into some very simple steps.

Available on labs.adobe.com is a new tool we’re working on called Adobe Edge. It allows you to create animated and interactive content using web standards such as CSS, JavaScript and HTML. It is very exciting to have the flexibility to create animation and interactivity visually in a fraction of the time it would take to write the same code. It’s also great for prototyping as well as learning how CSS, JavaScript and HTML can work together.
